Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?
We accept many major insurances, including Medicare.  Please call our office to verify your specific insurance plan.

Do you offer land and aquatic therapy?
Yes, we offer physical therapy that is land based, as well as aquatic based physical therapy.

What is aquatic therapy?
Aquatic Therapy is physical therapy which is performed in a warm therapy pool.  We individualize exercise-based therapy programs which may include postural activities, balance activities, strengthening, endurance activities and stretching.

What are the benefits of aquatic therapy?
Aquatic therapy can be very useful when patients have difficulty tolerate land based physical therapy.  Warm therapy pools provide buoyancy to assist in supporting the patient, while decreasing impact on the joints. Water can provide resistance to help improve muscle strength and improve balance, proprioception, and postural awareness.

How long is a typical PT session?
Sessions are typically an hour, but may vary with the initial evaluation or the patient’s specific needs.

Do I need a prescription for Physical Therapy? What is direct access?
In the state of Pennsylvania, a Direct Access licensed Physical Therapist can legally evaluate and treat patients without a prescription from a physician for up to 30 days.  A Physical Therapist will evaluate you and determine if physical therapy is an appropriate treatment for you. Your insurance may or may not approve direct access.
